TEAM HISTORY
The swim and dive program began shortly after the school was built in 1993. During the first year, enrollment consisted of only sophomores and freshmen. For each subsequent year, the school added a new freshmen class, so that by the 1995-96 school year, all grade levels were represented. Today, the school enrolls over 1300 students.
For over 20 years now, the swim and dive team has helped swimmers and divers of all skill levels improve over the course of each season. With practices every day and meets every week during the season, athletes get many opportunities to support teammates and show improvement. Currently, the boys' team competes in the fall season, and the girls' team competes in the winter season.
In 1996, the Summit girls swim and dive team earned the title of Conference Champions.
In the 2011-12 school year, Senior Megan Popp became the first Summit swimmer to become state champion with her 1st place finish in the 500 yard freestyle event at the state finals competition.
In the 2013-14 school year, the boys team placed 9th at state which is the highest placing for the boys' swim and dive team at state competition. The state team was comprised of diver Adam Lassa as well as swimmers Justin Mars, Brendan Ninneman, Nick Schwarzbach, and Sam Stapleton. Sam Stapleton became the first boys team state champion when he finished 1st place in the 100 yard freestyle event at the state finals competition.
